Grace Skie, 93, died Monday, November 27, 2006 at Sioux Valley Hospital.
Grace Vietor was born February 8, 1913 south of Chancellor, the daughter of Peter and Grace (Bossman) Vietor. She attended Vietor Rural School and grew to womanhood there.
She married Helmer Skie on September 23, 1931.
In 1932 they moved to their farm north of Lennox where they lived the remainder of their married life. Her husband died December 19, 1998, ending a marriage of over 67 years. She continued to live on the farm.
Besides her parents and her husband, Helmer, she was preceded in death by one son, Maurice Skie, on Dec. 20, 1985; a son-in-law; Marlyn Smidt on Oct. 27, 1976; one grandson, Kevin Smidt, on Aug. 17, 1966; one great-granddaughter, Brittney Timmerman on Oct. 22, 1993; four brothers: Walter, Ralph, Pete P. and Herman Vietor; three sisters: Katie Vietor, Gertrude Buse and Ida Vietor.
She is survived by two daughters: Elaine (Don) Anderson and Corleen (Harold) Timmerman, all of Lennox; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Skie of Rapid City; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Nettie Poppenga of Davis.
