Morten Marius, was the son of Halvor Olsen (AKA: Henry Olson)(3 January 1843, Nes, Hedmark County, Norway - 4 August 1901, Gjøvik, Oppland County, Norway) and Marte Marie Olsdatter (Skonnord) Olsen (AKA: Mary Skonnard)(17 March 1847, Skonnord Farm, Snertingdal, Oppland, Norway - 15 March 1913, Snertingdal, Oppland, Norway).

Morten Marius Olsen was born on Thursday, 5 January 1882 at Augedalsbro, also called Åvedalsbro, in Brandbu, Gran, Oppland County, Norway when his father, Halvor, was 38 and his mother, Marte Marie, was 34, and he was christened on Sunday, 12 February 1882, also in Brandbu. He emigrated to America via Liverpool, England with his older brother, Olaf Hagbart Olsen (1880-1927), aboard the ship, S.S. Celtic, arriving at Ellis Island in New York City on Sunday, 4 May 1902. He resided firstly with his uncle, Marthinus Olsen "Martin" Skonnord (1856-1940), in Valley City, North Dakota. According to his WWI draft registration card and under the name of Marius Halvorson, he was living in Aberdeen, Brown County, South Dakota in September 1918. He moved shortly thereafter to Goodman, Wisconsin and was employed at the Goodman Lumber Company, starting there in December 1923. According to his WWII draft registration card and under the name of Marvin M Halvorson, he was still employed at Goodman Lumber Co. in April 1942. He died on Friday, 5 March 1954 at Eklund Home in Peshtigo, Marinette County, Wisconsin and he was laid to rest at Glenwood Cemetery in Goodman, Wisconsin.

Halverson - Services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. today at Glenwood Cemetery at Goodman for Marvin Halverson, 72, a former resident of Goodman who died Friday at 9 p.m. in the Eklund Convalescent Home at Peshtigo after an illness of three years. The Rev. Leland Rubesh [1919-1986] officiated and burial was in the Goodman cemetery. No relatives could be located.
