Mrs. Betty Sue Jarrell Ayers, 72, of Mount Airy, NC, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at her home. Mrs. Ayers was born Nov. 4, 1934, in Davidson County, NC, to the late Pete Jarrell and Josephine Boyd Jarrell. She retired from Brown-Wooten Hosiery in 1999. Mrs. Ayers was a member of the ladies auxiliary of VFW Post 2019 of Mount Airy and was a member of its color guard. She was also a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of the choir. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Belle Jarrell, a brother, Richard Jarrell, and a brother-in-law, Jack Yoder. She is survived by her husband, Elmer Joe "Buck" Ayers; three daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon (Mark) O'Neal, Linda Leftwich, and Susan Money; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ricky Ayers and Randy (Susan) Ayers; eight grandchildren, Josh Leftwich, Casey Leftwich, Jennifer Simmons, Chase O'Neal, Travis Ayers, Heather Ayers, Zach Essick and Chad Essick; three great-grandchildren, Zane Simmons, Brady Simmons and Kelsey Leftwich; two sisters, Marie Ross and Louise Yoder; a brother, Don Jarrell; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.
