Helen H. Rahm, of Newington, CT. and Charlestown, R.I., died on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 in Wakefield, RI.

Born in New Britain, CT on August 31, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Harry Rivers Holland of Peacedale R.I. and Ethel Miner Holland of No. Stonington, CT. Helen was a life-long resident of Newington where she made her home and raised her cherished family. Helen was homemaker first and receptionist second at the family owned and operated "John your Hairdresser" on Farmington Avenue, Hartford. Helen was a novice fine art painter, enthusiastic seamstress, a long time garden club member and with her husband John, shared a great love of the outdoors and landscape. At the Shady Harbor Fire District, R.I., Helen was the behind the scene force of the beautification committee, which John chaired for many years. Helen was proud of her artful eye and given talent in home décor.

She is survived by her daughter Pamela R. and son-in-law Edward Czelazewicz of Newington, with whom she made her home, daughter Linda B. Rahm and partner Lorraine Libby of Farmington; her three step-grandchildren: Edward and his wife Barbara, Steven and his wife Laura, and DeRonde' Czelazewicz; her adored great grandchildren: Julia, Nathan, Steven, Sabrina and Shane Wyatt Czelazewicz and twin great granddaughters, Lylah and Sydney Cacciato; her sister-in-law, Helen R. Doyle of No. Chelmsford, MA; her nieces Leslie, Sharon and Karen; her nephews James, Thomas and Kurt.

Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years John K. Rahm, grandson (Ricky) Richard A. Kimball, Jr., brother Harry R. Holland, sister Donna H. Miller and nephew Craig R. Holland.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington with the Rev. Melanie Enfield presiding. She will be laid to rest privately in West Meadow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in Helen's name be made to Newington Emergency Medical Services, 71 John Stewart Drive, P.O. Box 310061, Newington, CT. 06111.
