Hazleton Plain Speaker; December 16, 1955:
William John Derr, of Pine Grove R.D. 2, died at 8:45 a.m. yesterday at his residence. Death was attributed to a cerebral thrombosis. A retired electric welder for the PP&L, Mr. Derr was born in Hazleton, a son of George and Anna Mary (Ackerman) Derr. He moved to Pine Grove 28 years ago. The deceased was a member of the Pine Grove Reformed Church and the Pioneer Fire Co. of this city.

Surviving are his wife, the former Barbara Pfankuch, formerly of West Hazleton; a foster son, Lawrence Derr, Selinsgrove; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Stritzel, this city, and three brothers, Barge and Robert Derr, this city, and George Derr, McAdoo. There is one grandchild.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Grebey Funeral Home with services in charge of Rev. William Y. Gebhard. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening.
