Wife on John Pannes. John was a passenger agent with the Hamburg-American North German Lloyd Line in New York City, and had previously been posted in Philadelphia. The two had traveled to Germany just so they could fly back on the Hindenburg. She was in her cabin at the time of the explosion. Her husband who was on the observation deck went back to the cabin to look for her. Both Mr. and Mrs. Pannes were killed when the Hindenburg burst into flames while landing in Lakehurst New Jersey.
