Born Sept. 6, 1921, in Dickson City, son of the late Jacob and Catherine Primer Lahoda, he lived most of his life in Thompson, owning and operating a dairy farm.
He was an excellent polka dancer, loved to play the harmonica for friends and family and was a great storyteller.
Surviving are two sons, John Lahoda and wife, Cheryl, Vestal, N.Y.; and David Lahoda, Athens; three daughters, Joan Mroz and husband, Thomas, Thompson; Mary Ann Saslo and husband, Paul, Mayfield; and Linda Rizzo and husband, Frank, West Windsor, N.Y.; nine grandchildren, Michael Lahoda and wife, Tracy, Eldersburg, Md.; Matthew Lahoda and wife, Gabrielle, Rochester, N.Y.; Samuel Clune, Oakland, Calif.; Nathan Mroz and wife, Linda, Charlotte, N.C.; Kevin Lahoda and wife, Valerie, Cambridge, N.Y.; Daniel Lahoda and wife, Jennifer, Los Angeles; Kyle Rizzo and wife, Maria, Binghamton, N.Y.; Sara Rizzo and fiancé, Joshua, Allentown; and Brian Mroz, Morrisville, N.C.; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas Lahoda and wife, Barbara, Boynton Beach, Fla.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Nicholas, William, Stephen, Joseph and infant, Michael; and four sisters, Nancy, Anne, Helen and infant, Mary.
The funeral will be Friday from the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main St., Forest City, with Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Martin of Tours Church, Routes 92 and 492, Jackson. Interment, St. Mary's Russian Cemetery, Thompson.
Friends may call Thursday, 5 to 7 p.m., and Friday, 9 to 10, at the funeral home.
