Henry L. Kinner, former member of the city council and county board, died at his home, 1103 Fourth avenue, last evening at 6:45 after a year's illness of hodgkin's disease. His failing health caused his retirement from business one year ago.

Mr. Kinner was born in Milan Nov. 27, 1849. His marriage with Miss Lize Rutherford of Rock Island took place Aug. 7, 1869, and she survives with four children: William M. Kinner, Mrs. T. J. Medill, and Miss Henrietta Kinner, Rock Island, and Mrs. Perry E. Beam, Portland, Ore.

For many years Mr. Kinner was a plastering contractor in this city, and at the time of his death he was vice president of the Rock Island Sand & Gravel company. He served two terms as alderman from the Second ward and a term as assistant supervisor. In politics, Mr. Kinner was a democrat, and took an active part in the affairs of his party. He was of the type of men whom a community can ill afford to lose; a good citizen, an upright business man, a devoted husband and father.

The funeral services will be at the home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. For 30 years Mr. Kinner had been a member of the First Methodist church.

(The Rock Island Argus - Oct. 4, 1910)

H. Jordan.
