Pte Cecil Coombes, second son of Mr. and Mrs, James, Coombes, formerly of "Baldersby", The Avenue, Lincoln. Was killed by a shell. whilst on duty on reserve at the supporting point about 1 mile to the rear of the firing line He was a native of Lincoln, aged 24 years, and standing nearly six feet. Educated under the late Mr. G. N. Slavery, of the College Harrogate, and latterly at Scarborough. Under Mr. Armstrong. Completed his education on the continent, and at Leeds University He was engaged in his father's business and in January last year joined with his brother the Public Schools Brigade and was attached to the Royal Fusiliers
