Norman Bever, Norm to his friends, had a long full life of service. He started his years of service by serving his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a ships gunner on the USS Lexington protecting his shipmates. Norm's service continued as member of the First Congregational Church where he was the moderator for the historical society committee and an usher at services. Norm was also a member of the South Pueblo Masonic Lodge. Norm's biggest service was to his wife and family as a loving husband and supportive father. Despite a career as an Reviewing Appraiser for the Farm Credit Bank of Wichita that required him to be gone from his family during the week, he was always there when it really mattered; whether it was to be the leader at a Boy Scout summer camp for his son Jerry or introducing his daughter, Laura, to tennis which she still enjoys today.

In Norm's younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. I can remember a time when he brought home a rabbit and he was skinning it on the kitchen table – not something a city kid sees every day. Later on in life his hobbies moved to bowling and golfing where he consistently beat his son, daughter, and son-in-law every time they played. As Norm moved into retirement he enjoyed cruises with the love of his life and vacations with his grandson. On one cruise they were joined by his sister-in-law and he was teased by other passengers about having two women with him. His enjoyment of various card games from an early age carried him through the remaining years of his life playing with his family and friends at the facility where he lived. Norm was easy to laugh and quick with a smile or a kind word and liked by everyone he met.

The world will miss his kind, generous, and easy going soul. I know I will... we all will!

Norm is survived by his wife Helen Bever, his daughter Laura (Dan) Johnson, his son Jerry (Julie) Bever , and his grandson Phillip Bever. Norm was preceded in death by his father, Virgil; mother, Laura Bever; and brothers, Joe, Eldridge, and Don.

Funeral service 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2018 at Fox Run Chapel, 1720 60th Avenue, Greeley. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association in care of Stoddard Funeral Home 3205 W. 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634.
