Jack was born in Cherokee County to Sylvester and Clara (Wilberding) Clark on August 20, 1939. He lived most of his life at the family farm west of Aurelia. He attended school in Aurelia. Jack was active in the Democratic Party and served as Cherokee County Democrat Chairman for 12 years. He ran for local and state office. Even though he did not get elected, he continued to work for and support candidates for local, state, and national office. He also enjoyed attending gun shows and he collected guns.

Jack is survived by 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Sarah Kavanagh and sons Webb and Beckett of Bethesda, MD; Mike (Kathleen) Clark and children Molli, Adelaide and Dane of Highlands Ranch, CO; Bill (Nikki) Clark and sons Benjamin and Braden of Kremmling, CO; and former wife Lorna Clark of Spokane Valley, WA. He is survived by 3 sisters: Mary Rohde of Homer, NE, Pat Schumann of Riceville, IA, and Kay Hase of Eagle Rock, MO. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, a nephew (John Clark Rohde), and brothers-in-law Dan Rohde and Virgil Schumann.
