Opal B. Niehues, 96, died August 15, 2009. Mrs. Niehues was born April 8, 1913 in Campbellsburg, Indiana. She was one of seven children. In the 1930's she moved to California and in 1937 married B.J. Niehues from Kelly, Kansas. They settled in Northern California where for a short time she drove a delivery truck for a local dairy and worked as a household cook. They settled in Stockton 35 years ago. She loved children and shared her love by caring for her family and many of her friend's children. She was an excellent seamstress and knitted and crocheted many beautiful blankets in her later years. Mrs. Niehues is survived by her four children, Hank Niehues, Daughter-in-law Carol ,West Plains, Missouri, Anna Holland, Son-in-law Thomas, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Patty Jo Shipman and Son-in-law Jerry, Stockton, California, Glenda Roe, Stockton, California her sister, Doris Scott, Stockton, California. She leaves 5 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe and Grandson John. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 19 at 1:00 PM at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 North California St, Stockton Visitation will be held at DeYoung Memorial Chapel on Tuesday 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Committal will be at the San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery
