Lawrence (Larry) B. Gohm, a lifelong citizen of Saginaw, Michigan. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper, with his family at his side. He was 68 years old. Lawrence B. Gohm was born on December 13, 1942 in Saginaw, MI to the late William H. and Katherine (Maul) Gohm. He was previously married to Carol Louise Gillig. He later married the love of his life Dorothy on January 27, 2006. She survives him. Larry was a proud survivor of Polio. Since the age of nine he has over come many obstacles. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in the Class of 1961. Larry was a member of the Arthur Hill varsity swim team, excelling in the breaststroke. He represented the fourth of five generations in a family of builders. Larry was the founder and owner of Hammer Restoration. He was a past President of the Saginaw County Home Builder's Association (Spike Club) and a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. Larry loved the outdoors: fishing, hunting, boating, and camping. He loved all of his family with no partiality. He loved them all for who they were. He was a great mentor and touched many lives through the years. His family has been left with a wonderful legacy to carry on. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; four children: Chris (Monte) Backmeyer, Amy (Ed) Wolcott, Steve (Melissa) Gohm, Craig Gohm; four step-children: William (Maureen) Trudell, Wendy Trudell, Laurie (Joseph) Reinig, Rebecca (Brian Hartman) Chorenko; 13 grandchildren: Jarrett, Charlotte, Isabelle, Alivea, Clara, Emily, Nicholas, Nathan, Chanell, Breana, Tyler, Alexander, Allison; two great-grandchildren: Nemond and Julian; a brother, Timothy (Elizabeth) Gohm; and a sister, Cynthia (Robert) Reifert. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday, August 21, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service honoring Larry will take place at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. Lawrence will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.FUNERAL: Lawrence's Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2011 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn. Rev. Fr. William R. Taylor will officiate. Honoring Lawrence's wishes cremation will follow the Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Heart Association , Polio Foundation or Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
