On December 3, 1891 (age 21) he married Mary Hissam from Matamoras. The couple would have 3 children however only 1, son Louis, would live to adulthood. He would appear with his wife and children in the 1900 census (recorded as age 28) in Matamoras.
On March 21, 1905 his wife Mary would die and on April 16, 1906, he would remarry to his late wife's sister, Helen, who became a widow in 1904. They would appear together in the 1910 census in Matamoras.
On December 29, 1919 Helen would die. Despite her recent death they were listed together on January 12, 1920 in the federal census that year. Frederick was recorded as age 49.
On August 12, 1922, at age 52, he married Marion Van Aiken who was 24 years old at the time. The marriage didn't last long and likely ended in divorce.
On April 24, 1924 Frederick would marry a 4th time to his late brother's widow Barbara (Dilger) Krause. He would appear with her in the 1930 (age 60) and 1940 (age 70) censuses in Matamoras.
