Samuel was born in England, and was a miller, settled in New York Province at the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. Samuel enlisted on 19 June 1776, and served with Sir John Johnson's First Battalion, King's Royal Regiment of New York, Capt. Patrick Daly's Company, until 24 Dec. 1783 when the Company was disbanded.
Samuel Moss drew land in Royal Township No. 2, Cornwall, as a Loyalist. His children, petitioning, and being granted land in Osnabruck Township, Royal Township No. 3.
Serj't. Samuel Moss was on the 1784 Cornwall Township Provisioning List as a single man, later marrying (c 1785), and his children petitioned for land between 1807 and 1825.
1786 Provisioning lists for Royal Township No. 2, Cornwall, ending the 3lst Aug. 1786: Samuel Moss, 1 man, 1 woman, 1 girl under age 10 (Martha, born 1786, died 18 July 1870).
