Charles Arthur Witt

Age 87 of Marion Springs passed away peacefully on November 6, 2016 at The Villa of Rose City.

A funeral service will be held 10am Thursday November 10, 2016 at Nelson-House Funeral Home Martin Chapel with Reverend Paul Ruediger officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Township Cemetery in Saginaw County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday November 9 from 2:30pm to 8pm.

​Chuck was born on March 25, 1929 to Carl and Selma (Drews) Witt in Detroit. His parents moved to Marion Springs when he was 2 years old. He went to the Lone Oak School and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in 1944. From 1947-1951 he was a mechanic at Arnold Ford Sales, Owosso and from 1951-1953, he served in the United States Army as a military policeman and mechanic in Japan (Korean War). He married Pauline Ann Mau on May 22, 1954.

Chuck worked a short time at Buick in Flint and as a mechanic at Reinhart Meyer Garage near Marion Springs while making his career as a lifelong, hard working farmer until retirement. He was a member of the Mid-Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association and the Marion Springs Conservation Club.

Chuck is survived by his children Mark Witt, Katherine Witt and Annette Corey; his two grandchildren, Stacy (Brian) Percy and Emily Hutfilz (fiancé Justin Larocque); his great grandchildren, Kyler and Kennedi Percy; and his sister, Betty Elsworth.

He is predeceased by his parents; sister Alice Johnston; and son-in-law Gerald (Jerry) Corey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Mid-Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association PO Box 104 Oakley, MI 48649 or the Marion Springs Conservation Club.
