John Leonard Strickland was born on 23 February 1881 in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota, the son of John and Anna Smith Strickland. He was married to Elizabeth "Lizzie" Peiffer (1887-1975) about 1903. They had three daughters and three sons. He worked in retail hardware. He died on 10 January 1962 in Lake City, MN at the age of 80. He was interred at Lakewood Cemetery.

JOHN STRICKLAND DIES AT AGE 80
John L. Strickland, 80, a lifetime resident of this area, died Wednesday, January 10, 1962 at the Lake City hospital.  He had been in poor health for 20 years.
Mr. Strickland was born in Zumbro Falls on February 23, 1881.  He married Elizabeth Peiffer in 1902 and they lived in the Zumbro Falls area until moving to Lake City 35 years ago.
Surviving are his wife; one son Wilmer of Lake City; three daughters, Mrs. William (Marian) Dahman and Mrs. Gerald (Lila) Pickett, both of Lake City and Mrs. Edwin (Margaret) LaMonte of Rochester; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were Friday, January 12th at the Peterson-Sheehan Chapel with the Rev. E.K. Meyers of the Methodist church officiating.  Burial was in the Lakewood Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Jim Shea, Fritz Dammann, Dave Dunham, Jerry Clifford, Walter Copp and Curtis Angell.
