Mr. Wittkopf was born Sept. 15, 1910 in Hull, Ill., a son of Frank and Nellie Tinsley Wittkopf. He married Rose Urbanowski in Hannibal, Mo. in the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church by Father Fox on Aug. 15, 1934. She survives.
He was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, the Quincy Plan Commission, the Quincy Zoning board of Appeals and a former member of the Moose, North Side and South Side Boat clubs.
He had been employed for 25 years as a carpenter and construction foreman for the Rose Construction Co. He was appointed the first building inspector for the city of Quincy on Aug. 31, 1971.
Surviving are the widow; one son, Frank B. "Butch" Wittkopf, Brunswick, Ga.; three brothers, Glenn Wittkopf, Griggsville, Ill., Robert Wittkopf, Bowen, Ill., and Junior Wittkopf, Gardener, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Willis (Helen) Wingerter of Quincy and Mrs. Paul (Maxine) Schaffer, Quincy; two grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hansen-Spear with the Rev. John Bertman officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
