Larry L. Naber, 68, of Ankeny, Iowa, passed away on November 23, 2016 at Mercy Hospice of Johnston.

Larry was born August 22, 1948 in Hebron, Nebraska, and was adopted by Ralph and Lorraine Naber of Waco, Nebraska.

Larry joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.

In 1970 he joined the Iowa State Patrol and served 33 years retiring as Captain.

Larry taught and served as chair of the criminal justice program at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and retired fully in 2012. He was a member of VFW Post 9662 (Ankeny).

Hunting and fishing was a hobby he greatly enjoyed. He also enjoyed spending time with good friends and with relatives at his condo in Kenneth City, Florida.

Larry is survived by his wife Judith (Busch) of Ankeny, daughter Jennifer of Ames, Iowa; son Chad (Krystal White) of Beaverton, Oregon; grandchildren Nathan and Gwenivuire White of Portland, Oregon; brothers Michael Naber of Molalla, Oregon and David Schuerman of Beatrice, Nebraska; sisters Mary Kneifl of Laurel, Nebraska, Jody Mendosa of Omaha, Nebraska and Diane Mayer of Beatrice, Nebraska.

Services will be Tuesday, November 29th at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 8301 Aurora Avenue, Urbandale, Iowa. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Veteran’s Cemetery, Van Meter, Iowa.
