Pamela Rae Storbeck, 16, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, in the University Hospitals, Iowa City, after a sudden illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday, Central Community High School gymnasium, by Pastor Rusty Phillips. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the school.
Survivors are her parents, John and Lois of Elkader; and two sisters, Jenny Gundacker and Stacy Storbeck, both of Cedar Rapids.

Burial was at East Side Cemetery, Elkader, Iowa. Providing music were Jean Welsh, pianist; Geralyn Torkelson, soloist, accompanied by Mary Lammers; and Central Community High School Mixed Choir, accompanied by Jessica Wilke. Casket ushers were Gail Torkelson, Kristy Glenn, Denise Whittle and Robyn Schulte. Honorary bearers were Central High School Juniors. Casket bearers were Eric Staff, Kory Staff, Matt Staff, Brian Ingles, Mike Ingles, Aaron Friedlein and George Storbeck. Ushers were Wayne Mager, Bob Garms and Steve Zaruba. Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader, was in charge of arrangements.

She was born April 4, 1985, in Elkader, Iowa, daughter of John and Lois (Friedlein) Storbeck. She was baptized May 19, 1985, and confirmed on March 28, 1995, both at Peace United Church of Christ. She presently was a junior at Central Community High School in Elkader where she was a member of the National Honor Society, enjoyed playing the clarinet, was FFA president and a cheerleader for football and wrestling. She was also active with 4-H. Pam had been chosen as Little Miss Squirt, enjoyed riding motorcycle and loved being outside.

Pamela Rae Storbeck died Tuesday, February 12, 2002, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, following a sudden illness. She is survived by her parents, John and Lois of Elkader; her two sisters, Jenny (James) and nephew Michael Gundacker of Cedar Rapids, and Stacey Storbeck of Cedar Rapids and her fiance, Josh Embretson of Davenport; her special friend, Jaaron Walther of Garnavillo; paternal grandmother, Helen Storbeck of Elkader; maternal grandparents, Herb and Inez Friedlein of Farmersburg; aunts and uncles, Kenny and Linda Staff of Monona, Larry and Linda Friedlein of Farmersburg, Rick and Susan Schulte of Dorchester, Ronald (Chuck) and Mary Ingles of Elkport, and George and Sandra Storbeck of Alburnett, and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Ray Storbeck.

Pam's death was caused by bacterial meningitis.
