Theda Estelle Ramey, 97, of Blackfoot, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Theda was born September 15, 1919 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Ivan L. Tanner and Caroline Buttcane Tanner.
Theda was a lifetime resident of Blackfoot. She told tales of riding to school in a sleigh. She attended and graduated from Blackfoot High School.
On December 7, 1937 Theda married Glenn Jacob Ramey in Blackfoot, Idaho. Glenn preceded Theda in death on April 29, 1986.
Theda had worked as a bookkeeper for Tanner Equipment and also bookkeeper and Vet Technician for Dr. Hyrum Kershaw and Dr. Glarborg. She worked as a relief mail carrier on a motor route. Theda also volunteered as a hostess for many years at the Blackfoot Senior Citizen’s Center.
Theda was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In her free time she enjoyed listening to music, reading and playing the piano in her early years. Theda was a professional seamstress and made her families clothing and was trusted to make many wedding dresses.
She is survived by her son, J. (Kay) Ramey of Blackfoot; daughters, Beverly (Richard) Salisbury of Blackfoot, Carolee (Glenn) Christiansen of Lava Hot Springs; five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Caroline Tanner; husband, Glenn; brothers, James and Earl Tanner; and sisters, Opal Wheeler and Glenell Jackson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Hawker Funeral Home. Family will meet with friends and relatives for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
