Allan Joseph Baumhover was born on September 6th, 1960 in Carroll, Iowa. He passed away suddenly on January 5, 2017.

Al was the 3rd child born to Jim & Marie Baumhover. He attended Our Lady of Mt Carmel grade school and Kuemper Catholic High School graduating in 1978. He went on to attended Iowa State University where he earned a BA in Accountng. His first job was in Charles City, Iowa. He then went on to work for Continental Grain in Minneapolis. He earned his CPA in Minnesota and worked for several companies over the years. He was employed with Merrill Corporation when he passed away.

Al loved boating, fishing, music, and cooking. And we can’t forget about his beloved car. He married his soulmate Tammy Burton on November 14, 1992 at Nativity of Mary Church in Bloomington, MN. Their daughter Kathryn was born on August 14, 1996. Al and Tammy had a very special bond that saw them through all the good times and the bad. Kathryn is the light of their lives.

Al lived his life on his own terms. If he wanted steak, he was going to eat steak. If it was followed by ice cream, so much the better. Al was quite a character and those who knew him best have great stories about his ingenuity, DIY skills, and his love for duct tape. Al had the wonderful gift of being able to laugh at himself and not take himself too seriously. He owned his idiosyncrasies. When we told “Al stories” no one was laughing louder or longer than Al himself.

Al is survived by his wife Tammy and daughter Kathryn, parents Jim and Marie Baumhover, siblings Mary Jo (Mark) Bayliss, Patrick (Anne) Baumhover, Dale Baumhover, David (Patty) Baumhover, Eileen (Jerry) Philbin, and Kevin Baumhover, many nieces and nephews, and very close friend Joe Strand.

So we say goodbye much too soon to a beloved husband and father, son and brother, and friend. You will be greatly missed but we promise to always keep you close in our hearts and minds.
