Theresa Mae Osterbur, 84, died peacefully at her home in Thomasboro at 7:01 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2017 at American Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Rantoul with Pastor Tim Hubert officiating. Burial will follow in Beckman Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Baier Family Funeral Services, Flatville is assisting the family with arrangements.

Theresa was born May 3, 1932 in Danville the daughter of George and Rosie Piecko Morris. She married Martin J. Osterbur, the love of her life, on July 24, 1952 in Alcorn, Mississippi. He preceded her in death February 28, 2010.

She is survived by one son, Stephen Osterbur of Thomasboro; three grandchildren, Brad (Abbie) Osterbur, Nicholas (Zoe) Osterbur, Courtney Osterbur; two great grandchildren, Logan and Isabella Osterbur; two sisters, Helen Harvey of Gifford and Pauline (Ben) Baszis of Danville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; five sisters, three brothers and a daughter-in-law, Pam Osterbur.

Theresa graduated from Peoria Academy of Our Lady High School in 1950 and received her nursing degree from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Danville. She was a private-duty healthcare provider for many years.

She was a member of the American Lutheran Church, Rantoul. Her hobbies included bowling, fishing and baking. She was an avid Illini and Cubs fan and waited her entire life for the Cubs to win the World Series. Thankfully she was able to see her beloved Cubbies clench the title. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.

Theresa was a woman of great faith and prayer. She faced cancer with courage and trusted in the Lord with his plans. The family would like to thank Dr. Frances Kramer for all the wonderful care she provided over the years and also a special thank you to her niece, Karyn Cordell, her neighbor, Mary Quinlan and Carle Hospice for the excellent care they provided in her final days .
