Peter was born in Sheffield Township, Ontario, Canada, the son of Francis Hurst and Alice (Nugent). He was baptized at St. Anthony Padua in Centerville, Ontario. by the Rev. Fr. Bernard J. Higgins. God parents were Ed Roache & Ellen Steward. He married Sarah Anne Kinney on September 16, 1878 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Owosso, Michigan. Their children are: Alice Alderton Roseman, Francis Patrick Hurst, Mary Hurst, John Peter, William James Hurst, Michael Joseph Hurst and Sarah Katherine Baldwin. He was a well-known and highly respected farmer near Bennington, Michigan, living there for nearly fifty years. He was injured in a railroad accident, and died two years later from the complications of those injuries. Ososso Argus Press stated that the attendance at St. Isidore Catholic Church was one of the largest that ever turned out to a funeral.∼Born to Francis & Alice "Nugent" Hurst.
