Anna Ruth Lang, age 87, died at Marquette Manor in Indianapolis, IN on March 29, 2014.She was born on April 27, 1926 at Madison, SD to John and Ruth (Grant) Lang.Grew up in Madison graduating from Madison High School and attended General Beadle State Teacher's College and completed her degree at the University of South Dakota where she majored in Sociology and Education. She taught high school in Aberdeen, Washington and California before moving to Alaska where she received her Masters degree in education at the University of Alaska. From 1952 until she retired in 1992 she worked for the military in civil service which took her to Germany, Japan, Korea, Guam, Illinois, New Mexico and Alaska. She placed orphans in the United State and France after the Korean War. She was stationed in Alaska during the 1964 earthquake and was working in Germany when the Berlin Wall came down. She was an adventure seeker who travelled to every continent except Antarctic. She was well Known for her sense of humor and the jokes she played on others. Beloved by all, She was a welcome addition to all family gatherings. She is survived by one brother - John of Madison. six nieces - Jennifer (Gary) Clifton of Park City, UT, Elizabeth (Cam) Ellis of Indianapolis, IN, Matthew (Aida) Hahn of London, England, Christine (Steven ) Pharr of Omaha, NE, Catherine (Mark) Miller of Sioux Falls, SD, Caroline (Roque) Mentele, of Vancouver, WA, Colleen (Troy) Lenard of Camas, WA and her brother- in- law Richard Hahn of Indianapolis.She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters - Kathleen and Margaret Hahn.A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 21, 2014 at St Thomas Aquinas Church with Rev DeWayne Kayser officiating. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery.Memorials may be directed to St Thomas Aquinas Church.
