He graduated from Ahpeatone High School in Cotton County. Mark graduated with an animal science degree from Oklahoma A&M University. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Hall.
Funeral services for Mark Richard Scherler, 91, of Faxon, will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Faxon, OK, with Pastor Floyd Allen officiating. Under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray, special viewing and visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Faxon Cemetery.
