Funeral services for Elizabeth 'Grace' Chipchase, 93, of Newman Grove, will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday June 15, 2005 at the Fellowship Bible Church in Newman Grove. Pastor Leland Streck will officiate with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph, Ontario, Canada on Friday June 17.


Elizabeth Grace Chipchase was born October 5, 1911 to Ralph and Emma (Filyer) Serrick in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She died Sunday, June 12, 2005 at the Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home in Newman Grove.


She attended Willowdale School at Ontario, Canada. On August 17, 1928, she married Howard Chipchase of Willowdale. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1990.


Together she and Dr. Howard served together in the gospel ministry for over 60 years. She was called by many the ideal pastor's wife. They began their formal ministry in 1931 by establishing York Road Baptist Church (now Crestwicke Baptist Church) in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. All five of their children have served in pastoral ministries. Her son and one son -in-law are Bible College presidents. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren are also involved in gospel ministries.


Survivors include son, Elwood (Joy) Chipchase, Belton, MO.; Daughters, Miriam Marsceau (Richard) Newman Grove; Ruth (William) Bennet of Sanford, FL.; Marilyn (Richard) Fenton of Hanover, PN.; Anne (James) Steel of Hot Springs, S.D.; sister Beryl Serrick of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; 14 grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one great-granddaughter.


Casket bearers will be Bill Barthel, Dustin, Barthel, Chad Barthel, Weston, Barthel, Richard Marsceau and James Steel.
