Martin A. Gosman was the landlord of the Indiana Hotel (Jasper) and died at Jasper January 1910, at age 68. He was born in Greencastle, Indiana, and came to Dubois County with his parents, the Hon. Andrew J. and Mary (Kerr) Gosman, in 1863, and lived near the town of Dubois (Marion township). Andrew J. Gosman was a member of the Indiana legislature from Dubois County and introduced the bill to erect the present statehouse. He was a farmer in Marion township and also conducted a country store on his farm. It is claimed by some that Mrs. Mary (Kerr) Gosman was in some way related to former Sheriff Robert Kerr whose grave is in the Enlow cemetery at Jasper, and whose wife was an Enlow. At one time the Gosman family lived at the site of the Gettysburg battlefield in Pennsylvania.
