SHINER - Elvera Christine (Sander) Jaks of Shiner passed away Monday, February 6th, 2017, at the age of 99 years and three days.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11th at United Dr. Martin Luther Church in Shiner, with Rev. Elaine Gomulka officiating and Rev. Paul Muehlbrad assisting.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, February 10th at Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Elvera was born February 3, 1918 in Shiner, to the late Otto and Emma (Stoeltje) Sander. She was a self-employed beautician, homemaker, and served as a church organist in the community for over 50 years.

Survivors include three sons, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; infant brother, LeeRoy; husband, Alphonse A. Jaks; and daughter, Marilyn (Jaks) Box.

Elvera was a strong and caring Christian woman who will be greatly missed by family and friends.
