Ralph R. Atkins, 77, 738 N. Lyford Road, died Friday, April 2, 1976, in St. Anthony Hospital, Rockford after a long illness. Born Feb. 27, 1899, in Belvidere, the son of Thomas H. and Effie B. Atkins. He lived 73 years in Rockford, coming here from Belvidere. He married the former Maybell Trombley in Rockford.
He was employed as a foreman by The Ingersoll Milling Machine Co. for 56 years before retiring. He was a member of Cherry Valley Lodge 173, AF&AM. Attended Rockford public schools.
Survivors include his widow, Maybell; three sons, Delbert R., Cherry Valley, Richard R., Rockford, and Air Force Lt. Col. David G., Riverside, Calif.; a daughter Mrs. Richard (Yvonne) McGinty, Thomson; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Warren T., Rockton; two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Madge) Mortenson and Mrs. H.H. (Violet) Tuck, both of Rockford; several nieces and nephews.
