Crisoforo "Chochoro" G. Garcia, 73, joined our father in Heaven, on May 21, 2000.

Chochoro was born Sept. 24, 1926, in San Diego, Texas, where he lived his entire life. He graduated from San Diego High School in 1944. He was an Army Veteran during World War II and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #8931. He married Elma Maldonado from Benavides, Texas, on May 13, 1956, and had four children. He was an active parishioner of St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church, a mutualista, a member of the Knights of Columbus for 44 years, and a Eucharistic minister for six years. He was retired from the Texas State Department of Transportation of Corpus Christi (District #16-Alice Area) after 37 years of service. He was a devoted husband and father and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Tomasa Garcia; and one brother, Eladio E. Garcia.

Survivors include his wife, Elma Garcia of San Diego; one son, Eladio E. (Diana) Garcia of San Antonio; three daughters, Elma "Elmita" Garcia Moreno of San Diego, and Anna Belinda (Florencio) Martinez and Evelyn Garcia both of San Antonio; two brothers, Enrique L. (Lupita) Garcia of Alice and Rodolfo "Rudy" L. Garcia of San Diego; one grandson, Matthew E. Garcia; two granddaughters, Christine "Chrissy" R. Moreno and Stephanie D. Garcia; two step-granddaughters, Jennifer J. Martinez and Pamela C. Martinez; one great-grandchild, Lindsey D. Luera; numerous nieces and nephews, and numerous dear friends.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at the Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home Chapel in San Diego. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the San Diego cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the San Diego V.F.W. Post 8931.
