He was nurtured by a kind and loving family his entire life. Mackie went to the 7th grade 1953-1954 at old Allen Jr High, which burned in the summer of 1954. His family moved to North Austin, where he attended Baker Junior High and then later McCallum High School. In the autumn of 1960, Mackie started at the University of Texas and later enrolled at Southwest Texas to finish his education. He was a member of the Alpha Psi Fraternity. Over the following several years,
Mackie persued several occupations including a meat inspector, nightclub manager, payroll accountant at Camp Mabry and 30 years as an ironworker. In 2004, he retired as a member of Iron Worker local 482.
He is survived by wife, Doris Riewe-Jester; step children and grandchildren, Kimberly Riewe of Austin, TX, Kermit and Dusti Riewe and children, Colton Riewe, Keegan Riewe, and Chesney Riewe of Colleyville, TX, Karl Riewe of Austin, TX, Keith and April Riewe and daughter Presley of Colleyville, TX; sister, Pat and husband Bobby Miller of Georgetown, TX; brothers, Kenneth Jester of Austin, TX and Steve Jester and wife Donna of Howe, TX; as well as his aunt, nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his son, Clayton Jester of Round Rock, TX and his parents Joe and Lucille Jester of Austin, TX.
Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home Chapel in Pflugerville, Texas. Burial will follow services at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
