Gülten was born to Mehmet and Şerife Gümüşelin in Kaletavas, Denizli. She married Mehmet Kayhan in Denizli on 15 November 1953, and they were happily married for over 63 years. They had three children: a daughter, Berrin; a son, Hasan; and a daughter, Renan.
She was a gentle, sweet grandmother who was always attentive to her family; ready to prepare wholesome homemade meals for which she was known. She had four grandchildren and three great grandchildren, whom she adored. She peacefully passed away at 5:40 in the afternoon while seated in a living room with her husband and two of her children.
