Viola Stella Trexler Remmel born December 16, 1921, passed on to her heavenly father on October 5, 2010, at 10:30 PM, at Manor Care Health Services of Chambersburg, her home for the past 4 years.

Viola, a native of Allentown, Pennsylvania was the wife of Berthold (Ted) Remmel, who preceded her in death on June 5, 2001.

During W.W.II, she worked as a defense factory employee making ammunition and other national defense material. She was also employed by the H. Leh Company and Traub's Market as manager of their Bakery Departments.

She was the mother of two children, Jeffrey Berthold Remmel of Whitefish, Montana and Jan Marcia Remmel Matthews of Chambersburg, PA, and the Grandmother of Jennifer Jan Matthews Davis, David W. Matthews III, Ian Remmel and Vincent Remmel. She was also the Great-grandmother of Adrian Jan Davis.

She attended Grace Brethren Church of Chambersburg and was a member of the Grace Evangelical Free Church of Allentown, PA.

She was the daughter of the late Robert W. Trexler, Sr. and Estella L. Boger Trexler. She was preceded in death by her sister Arlene Trexler Kutz of Catasauqua, PA and three brothers, Solomon W. Trexler of Catasauqua, PA, Robert W. Trexler, Jr. and George W. Trexler, of Allentown, PA.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2010, at the Grace Brethren Church at 315 S. Edwards Ave., in Chambersburg, PA.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at the Jerusalem Western Salisbury United Church of Christ, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown, PA 18103.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Grace Brethren Church in lieu of flowers.
