Max Frederick Oelschlaeger was born on June 30, 1921 in Abilene, KS to Fred and Georgia Ann (Weber) Oelschlaeger. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Kansas State in 1943.
While in college he participated in ROTC and served in the US Army Signal Corps during World War II. He was a Captain when he retired from military service.
He married Charlotte Robson on July 4, 1942 and they had four sons: Max Frederick, Dennis Lee, Steven Dale and Douglas Robert. They celebrated their Golden anniversary in 1992 and their Emerald anniversary in 2007.
Max retired at the age of 70 from LaFarge. He was a dedicated father and husband. He was awarded the Silver Beaver commendation from the Boy Scouts of America.
