A funeral service in her honor will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints off of Antler Drive, North Charleston, on March 10, 2017 at 11:00am.
The family will receive friends the evening of March 9, 2017, from 6-8pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Evans was known to be a strong matriarch to her family, who honored and loved her dearly. She was very active in her church, where she taught Youth Sunday School for 21 years. She was also a proud member of the Charleston Garden Club, as well as the Women's Auxiliary of the Exchange Club.
She was a resident of North Charleston for most of her life, and loved the Park Circle area where she lived. The love of her family and her church meant the most to her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Evans, Sr., and her son, Richard Larry "Smokey" Evans.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her children; two sons, Thomas M. Evans, Jr., (Evelyn) and Alvie R. Evans (Ruthie); a daughter, Olivia Evans McClure (Kenneth); a daughter-in-law, Paula Evans (Smokey); 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
