HIGGINBOTHAM, Sylvia Walker, 83, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, August 6, 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry R. Higginbotham; a son, Cecil R. Higginbotham; sister Marguerite Cash, and brother, Milton Walker. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church; however, she attended First Baptist Church for the last 21 years and was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. Surviving are sons William S. Higginbotham and Eddie S. Higginbotham of Roanoke, and Carl H. Higginbotham and wife, Lyn, of Goodview; daughter, Eloise H. Shelor and husband, George, of Roanoke; grandchildren, Dana H. Tickle and husband, Shawn, of Culpeper and Robert C. Higginbotham and wife, Jill, of Salem; two great-grandchildren, Sylvia E. Tickle and Julian R. Higginbotham; sisters, Virginia Motley of Amherst and Dorothy Campbell of Dayton, Md., and brother, Carlton Walker of Richmond. Funeral services will be at Oakey's North Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 1998, with the Rev. John D. Cochran officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Oakey's North Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Roanoke Valley SPCA.
