Patricia Peithman Baker was born December 26, 1920 to O.W. and Cora Lamm Peithman at Knob Noster, MO. She was a descendant of a pioneer land owning family who settled in Pettis County (Sedalia, MO) 150 years ago on her mother's side and a direct descendant on her father's side of Peithman's going back to 1380 in Northern Germany. She went to college at Missouri Valley in Marshall, MO and CMSTC in Warrensburg, MO. Patty came to Kansas City in 1941 and became a consultant for the Sonotone Hearing Aid Co. where she was the top woman consultant in the United States for 4 years. She married Harvey L. Baker on July 28, 1946 and together they founded the Keystone Sunday School Class at Washington Ave. Methodist Church in Kansas City, KS. She was a member of the Church for over 60 years and was a co-owner of Baker Printing Co. for 25 years. She was a member of several circles at Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of the choir for over 50 years. She belonged to the Junior League of Wyandotte & Johnson Counties and the McDowell Music Club. She was president of the Naturalization Council of KCK for 8 years helping foreign born war brides assimilate into the American way of life. Patty lived at Lake Quivira for 44 years and was a very active member and officer of the Quivira Mother's Club, the GWGA Golf Association and the Quivira Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey on December 9, 2014. Patty is survived by son David Brent Baker and his wife, Cindy, 2 grandsons, Wesley B. Baker and his wife, Mary, and Jackson W. Baker, 2 great grandchildren, Kayla and Aidan, and a sister Louise Barrett of California. Private graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 15 at the National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Bromwell Hall at Foxwood Springs, 1500 West Foxwood Drive, Raymore, MO where a visitation will be held from 12 noon-12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Trinity United Methodist, KCK or the Salvation Army or the charity of your choice.
