Mourners including members of the Hells Angels and Red Devils motorcycle clubs have packed a Diamond Creek church to farewell Dane Kowalski.
The 27-year-old was found dead on March 13 in the South Australian outback three months after he went missing.
More than 250 people attended the funeral at St John’s Anglican Church in Diamond Creek this morning.
During the eulogies Mr Kowalski’s mother, Vera, thanked everyone for their help in searching for the sociable tradie and said she would miss her “free-spirited” son.
“I will miss him every day for the rest of my life and it breaks my heart I won’t be able to hold him again,” Mrs Kowalski said.
“Dane was my rock, as big as Ayers Rock.”

Mr Kowalski’s friend Luke Colvin described the plumber as a “caring, loyal and selfless” friend.
“It’s an honour to have known you, I will cherish our bond and always love you,” he said.
Outside, mourners released white balloons and about 40 motorbikes led a cortege to Arthurs Creek Cemetery for burial.
The discovery of Mr Kowalski’s body south of Coober Pedy brought to an end a frantic search across Australia by family and friends.
His mother told the media at the time that her son had left a note at the scene that read: “I’ve been bitten by a snake”.
His white Holden Rodeo 4WD was found on March 11 and his body discovered nearby two days later.
His family and friends were commended by many on social media for their persistence and resolve.
Mr Kowalski’s family and friends have expressed their gratitude for the public support and donations that gave them the strength and finances needed to search the outback.
