Marvin F. Bergman, 69, of Seneca died Sunday March 26, 2017, at his home in Seneca.

Marvin was born on May 23, 1947, in Seneca, to Raymond B. and Rose T. Haverkamp Bergman. In 1953 Marvin and his parents moved to a farm a mile east of St. Benedict.

Marvin attended St. Benedict Rural School and graduated in 1965. Marvin went to Clarks School of Business in Topeka in September of 1965 and graduated in January of 1967. Marvin was drafted in to the United States Navy on April 24, 1967 and was discharged in January 4, 1971, at the rank of ABH3. Marvin served on the USS America (CVA66). After he served his country he returned to the area and went to work in Topeka for a couple of years, before returning to St. Benedict to help his father on the farm. They sold the farm in 2001, Marvin retired and moved into Seneca.

Marvin was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict, St. Joseph Society of the Church and the Earl W. Taylor Post #21 of the American Legion in Seneca.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Darlene Bergman Armstrong on January 1, 2014.

Marvin is survived by a niece Amy (Seth) Jenkins.

A rosary will be prayed at 2 PM on Thursday, March 30th at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 AM on Friday, March 31, 2017 at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict.
