A Memorial Service is pending for Bertha Herman, 91, long time resident of Nisland and Belle Fourche, and will be held at the Christian Life Center in Belle Fourche.

Interment will be at the Pineslope Cemetery at Belle Fourche prior to the memorial service at the church. Visitation will be at the Aldinger Funeral Home in Spearfish.

Bertha was born March 19, 1915, in Fort Collins, Colo., the fourth of 10 children born to Carl and Anna Brunner, 1905 German immigrants from Russia. She died Monday night, Jan. 22 at the Elk Run Assisted Living Home in Evergreen, Colo.

She spent most of her life in South Dakota , but had resided in Colorado for the past seven years under the care of her daughter, Joylene.

Bertha met Henry Herman at Nisland and they married on March 24, 1934.

She is survived by her three children, Ron and Barbara Herman, Kennewick, Wash.; Joylene and Donald Cox, Littleton, Colo.; and Cynthia Schlenker of Gering Neb.; nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; sisters Emma Ham of Evergreen, and Esther and Richard Langdon of Casper, Wyo.; brother Ed & Laura Brunner of Rapid City; and sisters-in-law Betty Brunner of Las Vegas, Nev., Mary Herman of Belle Fourche, and Alma Herman of Albuquerque, N.M.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Donald, husband Henry, brothers Carl, Leo, and Reinhold and sisters Anna, Lydia, and infant sister Jenny.

Graveside services for Bertha Herman, 91, Denver and formerly of Belle Fourche, were Jan. 27 at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche. Memorial services were Jan. 27 at Christian Life Center in Belle Fourche.

Bertha died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at Elk Run Assisted Living Facility in Denver.

Survivors include three children, Ronald Herman, Kennewick, Wash., Joylene Cox, Littleton, and Cynthia E. Schlenker, Gering, Neb.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother.

Her husband, Henry, preceded her in death.

Aldinger Funeral Home of Spearfish, S.D., is in charge of arrangements.
