Clarence Rapp Dies in Oregon Car Collision

Word has been received at Fairfield of the death of Clarence Rapp, 61, Fairfield farmer, who was killed in a highway collision west of Hood River, Ore., Sunday night. Also killed were two brothers Paul ad Lenoir Fischer, of Kellogg, Ida.

According to reports Rapp’s car apparently skidded on the highway and the Fischer car, a small German vehicle, smashed into it.

Mrs. Rapp is hospitalized at Hood River with extensive bruises and a broken leg. At the latest report, she was still being ex-rayed for possible other fractures. Her sister from Portland, whom the couple were en-route to see, was called to Hood River immediately following the accident and subsequently notified the family at Fairfield. All the children, except Gerald, left for Hood River Sunday night.

Rapp, who was born in South Dakota, came to Montana in 1909, settling first in Glendive. He had farmed west of Fairfield the past 19 years.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James Maxwell; four sons, Eldon, Thayne, Gerald and Chris, all of Fairfield; and seven brothers, Walter of Butte, Frank of Roseburg, Ore, Howard of Tacoma, Wash., Earl, of Parker, S.Dak., Alfred of Marion, S.Dak., Joseph of Rapid City, S.Dak., and Freeman of Hot Springs, S.Dak.—The Choteau Acantha, Oct. 23, 1958, Pg. 1
