Petrus married Mary Magdalena Wilhelm on November 20, 1849, in Potosi, Grant County, Wisconsin. Mary was born April 17, 18287, in Prussia, the daughter of Franciscus "Franz" and Johanna Maria "Anna" (Hoffmann) Wilhelm. They had the following known children:
