George Weigandt, 65, Oshkosh, father of Roben Weigandt, Whitewater State College basketball coach, died Sunday in a local hospital. He had been ill only two days.
Bom June 10, 1887, in a Germani settlement in Russia's Volga district, Mr. Weigandt came to Kansas with his parents when he was 13. He Ijved in Oshkosh for the past 50 years and was married here Dec.30, 1908, to Elizabeth'. Felker.
For 15 years Mr. Weigandt operated a grocery store here. During the past seven years he was a steward at the Raulf Hotel. He was a charter member of Zion Lutheran Church and was treasurer of the church from 1909 to 1924.
Survivors, in addition to his son Robert, include his wife, two sons, Russell J, Oshkosh, and Richard, stationed with the army at Oakland. Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. Emma Manley, Marshall, Mrs. Lena Schock, Mrs. Florence Weitz, and Mrs. Faye Oestreich, all of Oshkosh, and Mrs. Mavis Twombly, Houston, Tex.; two brothers. John and Henry, Oshkosh; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Gorr, Oshkosh, Mrs. Amelia Weiss, Colorado, and Mrs. Catherine Grey, Oshkosh; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, the Rev. Leo Oberleiter officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
