Martin Carl Earnst Jochen entered into rest on January 15, 2015, at 9:50 in the evening, at the age of 89. He entered into life on February 3, 1925, in Freyburg, Texas, and was the last of five children born to Karl and Johanna Jochen. Martin was baptized on February 22, 1925, and Confirmed on April 10, 1938, at Salem Lutheran Church in Schulenburg, Texas. Martin and Ruby were married December 21, 1950, at Zion Lutheran Church in Schulenburg, Texas, by Arthur Widiger. Martin was a member of Our Savior Lutheran for approximately fifty-five years. He worked with the Boy Scouts early on in his membership. In his later years, he was one of the gate keepers at Our Savior. Martin worked several jobs before coming to Houston to work in the construction industry. He was a member of the Cement Masons for 35 years. Martin enjoyed hunting and fishing and passed the enjoyment down to his sons, his grandson, and someday to his great-grandson, Connor. Martin is survived by his wife, Ruby; his two sons, Larry and Dennis; one grandson, Curt, and his wife, Brianna; and one great-grandson, Connor. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lorene, and her husband, Clarence Klesel; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mr. Martin Jochen will be Monday, January 19, from 5-8 pm at Pat H. Foley and Company Funeral Home, 1200 W. 34th Street. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, January 20, at Our Savior Lutheran at 10 am with Pastor Laurence White officiating. Pallbearers for Mr. Jochen are Ron Kleihege, Don Kleihege, Michael Baumbach, Steven Baumbach, and Les Schooley. In lieu of flowers, please donate memorials to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
