At the age of 18 years, he and his father became settlers in Northern Minnesota where they engaged in logging operations. He started his own saw mill operations in 1909.
He was married to Lillian Kruger in 1918 and to this union four sons were born. In 1926 he and his family moved to Columbia Falls where he continued with his logging operations, operating tie mills and logging contracting in the Flathead valley up to the time of his death.
During the First World War, he spent 14 months in overseas duties and has since been affiliated with the American Legion.
He was interested in the welfare of his community, and was active in civic affairs, serving on the city council, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of School District No 6 for 10 years, serving at the time of his death as the Chairman of that board.
He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, and the American Legion.
Mr. Giroux passed away August 20, 1943 at the age of 52 years. He is survived by his wife, Lillian and four sons, Donald of Seattle, Washington, Clayton, Dick and Bill of Columbia Falls, and five sisters, Miss Elsie Giroux of Chicago, Illinois; Mrs. Rose Lathrop of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Ruth Patnode of International Falls, Minnesota; Mrs. Vina Peterson of Seattle, Washington, and Mrs. Aurora Eastland of Fosston, Minnesota.
