On April 29, 1955, she was united in marriage to Alfred Baade at the Ramsey Reformed Church. They made their home in the Titonka area. She was a homemaker and she worked 26 years as a Teachers Aide at the Titonka Consolidated School.
Phyllis loved gardening and square dancing. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Phyllis was a very faithful woman. She was baptized and confirmed at the Ramsey Reformed Church, where she remained a lifetime member having served as a Catechism and Bible School teacher, held various offices in the R.C.W. and was a Ruth Circle member. She enjoyed music and sang for over 50 years in the Ramsey Senior Choir. Phyllis was also a member of the Titonka Care Center Helpmates and the VFW Auxiliary.
Phyllis died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Titonka Care Center, Titonka. She was 81.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alfred; daughters, Cynthia "Cindi" (Wesley) Sweedler of Williams, IA, Maria (John) Hillgartner of Fort Madison, IA; grandchildren, Elizabeth Sweedler of Algona, IA, Kyle Sweedler of Williams, IA, Lindsey Hillgartner of Ankeny, IA, Vance Hillgartner of Fort Madison, IA; sisters, Juniece Beenken of Titonka, IA, Johanna Meinders of Buffalo Center, IA, brother-in-law, Ray Baade of Titonka, IA and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; step-father, Harm Kettwich; sisters, Berniece Kellie, Thresa Baade; brother, Herman Kettwich; brothers-in-law, Eugene Beenken, Alvin Meinders and Herbert Beenken, Francis Kellie; sister-in-law, Anna Kettwich.
