Lisette was born December 29, 1914, in Baltimore, Maryland to Ernst Ludwig and Lisette (Horn) Hasenzahl. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baltimore. Lisette graduated from Catonsville High School and attended Strayer Business College. Lisette met the love of her life, Walter Kimmel, at Immanuel Lutheran Church where they served God together in several different ways. On August 18, 1940, the couple were united in marriage at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Both Lisette and Walter were active in Christian education at Holy Nativity Lutheran Church in Baltimore, where Lisette played the organ and Walter directed the choir. They also both sang in the choir at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The couple moved to Columbus, Nebraska, in October 2015 to be near family. Lisette and Walter celebrated 76 years of marriage together. Lisette enjoyed gardening, music, and cooking.
