DeBRUIN (nee LINDSAY), Betty Lou (December 7th, 1933 - April 30th, 2008) With profound sadness, the family of Betty Lou DeBruin (nee Lindsay) wishes to announce her passing at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home in Kamloops, British Columbia after a valiant struggle with cancer and heart disease. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Esther Lindsay of Millville, New Brunswick, brothers, Basil, Wendell, James and George and sisters, Bessie and Doris. Betty is survived by her brothers Gladwin and Gaylon, sisters, Izettie and Patty as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Betty leaves behind, the love of her life, her son, Carl Paul DeBruin and his wife, Arlene (nee Charlton) of Kelowna, BC. Betty was a kind and loving woman with a great sense of humor who found immense joy in children's laughter and beauty in their smiles. She was a talented knitter and crocheter who loved to create treasured items for family and friends. As a member of the North Kamloops Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada, Betty spent many hours volunteering and in earlier days, played a mean game of darts at the club. Betty was blessed with many loving friends, especially, Wendy Escamilla and her children, Mario, Marlena, James and Mathew, and Don Mikal and his children, Hope and Wade, who cared for Betty during the last days of her life providing joy and happiness. She will be missed by friends Nadine Kammerer and Evelyn Charlton as well as her special nieces Linda Joly and Eda Lindsay. Carl and Arlene wish to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Rene Soucy of the Summit Medical Clinic and to the staff and volunteers at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home in Kamloops for their kindness and exquisite care of our mother. At Betty's request there will be no funeral service, her remains will be cremated and she will be laid to rest in the family cemetery in Millville, New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Betty's name to the Salvation Army Kamloop's, "Send a Kid to Camp Program," 344 Poplar Street, Kamloops, BC V2B 4B8
