He was not raised by his biological father, August Haneburg. His mother took him from Maui to Kauai and his maternal grandparents raised him. He latter changed his name from Haneburg to his grandparents name, Ukauka. This is the same for his sister Ida Ukauka Waters. (Info from children and grandchildren)
